About Us

With over 60 years of professional experience, we are pioneers in the Maipo Valley, always searching for the best expressions of the terroir, from the mountains to the coast.

The beginnings of Santa Ema date back to the opening of the 20th century, when don Pedro Pavone Voglino, an Italian immigrant, sportsperson and businessman, discovered a great terroir in Isla de Maipo, the place where our head offices are still operating today.

The founder and his son, Félix Pavone Arbea, an entrepreneur of great vision, began in 1956 a winemaking business called Vinos Santa Ema. They equipped it with state of the art industrial infrastructure for developing and managing bottled wines of high quality.

As of then, Santa Ema has opened its doors to Chile and the world, starting its exports in a solid and uninterrupted growth process, reaching today more than 30 countries.

If anything characterizes the spirit, mission and vision of Vinos Santa Ema, today in the hands of the 4th generation of the Pavone Family, that is the complete and constant commitment to the following fundamental principles:

Respect for the human being
This is made manifest through a considerate treatment and open-door policies towards our workers, which has allowed us to always work as an efficient and united team.

Quality first
This is at the very base of our wines’ excellency and our main goal. Always searching to improve the productive processes.

Care for the environment
We have incorporated the most demanding quality certifications in our productive operations as well as severe safety and sustainability procedures.

Passion for what we do
This expresses itself in the personality of our wines as well as in the stability of the relations with our suppliers, distributors and our community.

Rather than a way of facing work, being authentic is a way of facing life. Each tree is a contribution, each drop of water is valued and each bottle has a history to tell.

We carry an important family legacy, based on firm values, and a unique vision of how to make wines.

The quality of our products is one of our unquestionable founding pillars, present for more than sixty years.

We are committed to caring for our workers, our environment and our surrounding.

We are present from the mountains to the coast with unique vineyards, whose typicity is reflected in our great wines that come from Maipo Alto, Maipo Medio and Maipo Costa.

Nuestros viñedos están presentes de cordillera a costa otorgando características propias de cada terroir en cada uno de nuestros vinos.

Cerro Blanco is a property planted with vineyards on a mountain located at 1.000 meters altitude. The quality of our red wines from Maipo Alto is one of the most consistent in the Chilean wine scene. The slopes of the Andes, mainly of colluvial soils, are generally defined as of medium to low fertility, ideal for growing vines and producing expressive wines of great body.

Varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Carmenère, Carignan, Malbec, Merlot, Syrah and Marselan

The property of El Peral is planted with vineyards that grow on the banks of the Maipo River. This, in addition to the influence of the Andes Mountains, generates a unique climate condition. The soils are flat, alluvial and stony, perfect for producing fruity red wines as well as fresh and balanced whites.

Varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay

In Leyda, the vineyards are planted only 10 kilometers away from the Pacific Ocean. It is a cool coastal climate and the slopes of the rolling hills have granitic soils. The strong influence of the sea breezes and the ocean fogs, generated by the Humboldt Current, favor a slow ripening process that allows producing vibrant and mineral whites as well as aromatic and complex reds.

Varieties: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Syrah and Pinot Noir

Our products are present in different parts of the world.
Santa Ema´s quality has been successful in conquering the most important markets in all five continents.
