El Peral Estate, 45 hectares.
The vineyards are located on the Banks of the Maipo River, and are bathed in the mist that rises off the tributary in the mornings. This particular condition allows us to obtain very aromatic wines with very good acidity. The wines are the living embodiment of fresh fruit.
This zone, one of the most renowned and traditional in Chile, has flat soils, alluvial in origin and rocky, suited for both red and white grapes.
From this vineyard we obtain the grapes for our Santa Ema Gran Reserva Merlot. The wine is known for its fresh fruit together with notes from the oak, like chocolate, vanilla, and caramel. The wine transcends generations and cultures, and today is one of the best and most important Merlots in Chile, receiving important international recognition.
Varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay.
1- Alluvial soil with elevated proportion of silt on the surface that naturally regulates the temperature of the soils, and aids in a slow ripening of the grapes and the stability of the roots, translating into aromatic wines with great typicity.
2- Horizontal sections with high proportion of rounded stones moved by the Maipo River, which thanks to the water have polished the edges until they were deposited in a mix of fine gravel, with low water retention that favors the natural production of the plants, controlling the vegetative growth naturally.
3- Profile formed in its majority by gravel and coarse sand, and thanks to its low capacity of coeción, plus a substratum with excellent oxygenation, allows for excellent deep root colonization, forcing the vines to produce more concentrated must with greater structure and color.
